President Loki fanart

Ever since I saw the first episode of Loki, I knew I needed to draw some sort of fanart for him.  I really wanted to do a colored pencil portrait, and when I saw President Loki appear, I knew that was the Loki I wanted to draw.

I started off with a sketch, as always.  Here I used HB, 2B, and 4B Faber-Castell Goldfaber pencils to sketch out his face.

Not gonna lie, he looks quite creepy XD.

Next, I began to add color to his face using a combination of Faber-Castell Polychromos and Prismacolor Premier pencils, as always.  The thing I’ve learned about skin tones is that they are surprisingly not beige/pink at all!  There’s a lot of red and browns involved!

Next is the crown and hair!  The crown was super fun!  I love doing gold.  Gold is so intricate and the key to it is to incorporate lots of browns and outside colors so that it appears more realistic.

Onto the clothes!

At first when I was doing the vest I was like, “Oops!  That green is way too bright!”  It all worked out though because I later realized that the blue of the background is also really vibrant XD.  When I started this piece, I was 50/50 on doing a background, but I later realized that there were highlights on Loki’s costume that made it essential to add the blue so he would stand out.  And it definitely  paid off!

Here’s the final version!

Ahh!  It turned out so much better than I was expecting!

In conclusion, I had a lot of fun drawing Tom Hiddleston as Loki and I’m excited to proudly hang this up!
